The Ogham w/ Laura Governali
The Ogham is a fifteen-hundred-year-old alphabet, a written and oral tradition embodying the magic and mystery of Celtic shamanism. Each of the twenty original letters, called "feda", is assoicated with not only a tree, but a color, a bird, and with linked magical concepts, shamanic evolution and spriitual advancement. Students will see that the tree, bird and color with which each letter is connected all have sympathetic powers, emotional intricacy, and spiritual intimacy. In this in-depth, 4 week class, participants will learn not only the letters and their connectins in the natural world, but how their placing within the Ogham tells a story of Celtic shamanic beliefs - the tale of The Warrior-Lover and his or her connection to all other life within their world, including the Celtic relationship with those of the Otherworld, the Sidhe, or Faerie, from whom they believed themselves only marginally separated. Refreshments will be provided.
